Tri-State Airport is adding an additional Delta flight to Cincinnati beginning July 1, giving Tri-State travelers three daily non-stop flights to Cincinnati at 7 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 5:55 p.m. This announcement follows the recent expansion of Allegiant Air’s non-stop service to four Florida locations. US Airways currently offers non-stop flights to Charlotte.
Additionally, Tri-State Airport has federal stimulus funding coming for several projects. $1.2 million will be used to renovate the commercial aviation ramp, where passengers board, and $700,000 will be used for a fire rescue vehicle.
A $5.2 million runway project, which will extend the runway from 6,500 to 7,000 feet, will begin this summer. It is expected to be completed in spring 2010.
Also planned is an $850,000 conversion project to change a seldom used runway into a taxiway near a planned commercial shell building. The building is being developed by Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) to entice aviation-related businesses.
