Marshall University Forensic Science Center Addition/Bio-tech Incubator - Construction was completed in August 2009 on the Marshall University Forensic Science Center Addition (http://forensics.marshall.edu/), a three story, 15,000-square foot, $4.2 million project which will house HADCO's Biotech Incubator labs, classrooms, and a digital evidence laboratory. HADCO provided nearly $1 million in support of this new facility. HADCO also received a $150,000 grant from Verizon WV (www22.verizon.com/about/community/wv) and a $100,000 Benedum Foundation (www.benedum.org) grant to support this technology project. The incubator labs will house new biotech spin-offs generated from Marshall. The new building was designed by Edward Tucker Architects, Inc. (www.etarch.com).  Neighborgall Construction (www.neighborgall.com) was the general contractor. 

HADCO Business Park - The Cabell County Commission (www.cabellcounty.org/commission.htm) approved the establishment of a Tax Increment Financing District to provide and expand infrastructure (water, sewer, gas and electric) to the 72-acre HADCO Business Park. The State of West Virginia Division of Highways constructed a new access road into the HADCO Business Park.    The park will house Alcon's new $25 million manufacturing facility, which is under construction.  

Shell Building V - HADCO erected a 100,000 sq. ft. expandable shell building on a 10-acre parcel at the HADCO Business Park, located on WV Rte 2 in Cabell County. It is available for lease, purchase, or lease-to-own. It is ready for build-out to fit the tenant's specifications, and can be ready for occupancy in approximately four months. This shell building represents the fifth shell building constructed by HADCO.

HADCO Business Park, Phase II - HADCO has recently acquired a 55-acre site adjacent to the 72-acre HADCO Business Park on WV Rte 2 in Cabell County to expand the business park. Water, sewer, gas, electric and fiber optics infrastructure are being extended to the area.

Shell Building VI - Conceptual design has been completed on a 40,000 sq. ft. shell building that will be built at the Tri-State Airport to attract aviation related companies. All Federal Aviation Administration applications have been approved, and the lease has been signed with the Huntington/Tri-State Airport Authority. Engineering specifications will be completed, with the project projected to go out for bid in 2010.

Alcon Research, Ltd. (www.alcon.com/en/index.asp) announced plans to expand its medical device manufacturing facilities in Cabell County with a new 74,000 sq. ft. facility at the HADCO Business Park.  Alcon purchased the 21-acre site with an option to purchase 8 additional acres.  Construction is underway on the $25 million project.  The new facility will be fully functional by 2011 and will allow Alcon's Huntington area operations to remain the world's largest intraocular lens (IOL) manufacturing site. Once completed, the expansion ultimately will provide more than 350 new jobs for the area. In conjunction with the 2009 groundbreaking ceremony, Alcon also celebrated its 30th year of IOL manufacturing and innovation in West Virginia.

Caledonian Alloys has leased the 42,500 sq ft building which formerly housed Caprewest. A Scotland-based company, Caledonian Alloys provided 20 new, high value jobs in 2009 and projects an additional 10 employees in 2010.

Cabell County School District (http://boe.cabe.k12.wv.us) is constructing five new schools using money from a $61 million bond issue approved by voters in January 2006. Martha Elementary opened for the 2008-09 school year. Barboursville Middle School opened in January 2009, and was followed by Milton Middle School in August 2009.  Southside Elementary/Huntington Middle is scheduled for completion in May 2010.

Marshall University Student Recreation Center (http://www.marshall.edu) opened in February 2009. This $30 million, 123,000-square foot facility includes a climbing wall, juice bar, racquetball courts, basketball courts, fitness center, group exercise rooms and three-lane jogging track.

Marshall University Erickson Alumni Center and Foundation Hall (http://www.marshall.edu) - This 33,000-square foot, $9 million building is opened in March 2010.  The first floor houses offices and a lounge for alumni relations.  The second, third and fourth floors are home to the Marshall University Foundation, with the fourth floor housing their executive offices and board room.  It has Wi-Fi and start-of-the-art conference facilities, including teleconferencing for more than 250 people.  Neighborgall Construction (www.neighborgall.com) of Huntington was the contractor.

Cabell Huntington Hospital North Patient Tower (http://cabellhuntington.org) was completed in October 2007. This five-story, $85-million expansion now houses post-surgical and medical nursing units; labor, delivery and recovery units; adult, surgical and cardiac intensive care units; Neonatal Intensive Care Unit; inpatient oncology unit.

St. Mary's Medical Center (www.st-marys.org) opened its Regional Heart Institute and emergency department/level II trauma center in May, 2006 at a cost of $30.2-million. This was followed by a $19 million, 34-bed intensive care unit in January 2008, and a $6.3 million, 510-space parking garage in October 2008.

Pullman Square (www.pullman-square.com), a $59 million retail, entertainment and parking development on an 8-acre site in downtown Huntington, opened in November 2004. This four-block section revitalized downtown shopping and dining and is an activity center for social events.
