Despite the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic, Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) continued to maintain a strong outreach program with area businesses in 2020. Business and industry in the greater Huntington area continued to create jobs and economic investment despite the nation’s worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. Below is a review of some of our organization’s economic development program efforts in 2020.
HADCO’s mission is to stimulate new job growth and business investment. One of the most direct ways we do this is through our industrial development program. Since 2000, HADCO has developed two major industrial parks and has overseen the construction of seven industrial buildings, adding more than half a million square feet of prime industrial space to the Huntington area. HADCO sustains hundreds of high-wage jobs through the continued improvement and lease of these spaces and that program has remained strong in 2020.
HADCO also aids in promoting new job creation and business investment by helping companies access state and local technical assistance and incentive programs. In 2020 HADCO aided in the funding of seven projects through RCBI’s Appalachian Hatchery Program. These projects represented more than $42,000 in technical assistance grants for companies to develop new products and production processes. In addition to this, $89,580 was awarded to 12 area companies though West Virginia Development Office sponsored programs in support of new investment and job creation.
Here is a look back at HADCO's 2020 business outreach program by the numbers.
