This September, the City of Huntington, West Virginia is set to host three state-wide development conferences, all of which are promoting community and economic development for the state. These conferences include the West Virginia Brownfields Conference, the West Virginia Economic Development Council’s Annual Fall Conference and the Governor’s Conference on Tourism. Each will be held within one week of one another and each will serve as a showcase for the Huntington area to communities around the state as Huntington celebrates its 150th anniversary.
2021 West Virginia Brownfields Conference & Main Street/ON TRAC Training
The 2021 West Virginia Brownfields Conference & Main Street/ON TRAC Training conference will be the first ever hybrid-style event. The conference will kick off with free virtual sessions on Tuesdays throughout August of 2021, leading up to the main in-person sessions at Mountain Health Arena in Huntington on September 14-15. The conference will feature sessions from state and federal partners and will include discussions related to the redevelopment and management of brownfield sites and vacant former industrial properties around the state.

The West Virginia Economic Development Council (WVEDC) Annual Fall Conference
The West Virginia Economic Development Council (WVEDC) Annual Fall Conference will be held in Huntington, September 20-22, 2021, at the Mountain Health Arena. Huntington Area Development Council (HADCO) is the conference organizer for this event. 2020 was a tough year for everyone including economic development practitioners. The 2021 WVEDC Annual Fall Conference will explore how economic developers can renew, reset, and refocus efforts to impact economic growth in communities around West Virginia.
A block of rooms at the Delta Hotel by Marriott is available for reservation now. The Delta Hotel is located across the street from Mountain Health Arena in downtown Huntington. They will be offering a rate of $114 per night to our registrants. The number of available rooms is limited. The 2021 Governor’s Conference on Tourism
This conference will be held on Monday, September 13- Thursday September 16 at the Doubletree Hilton in Downtown Huntington. Each year, the Governor’s Conference on Tourism provides an opportunity for tourism industry partners to come together to find new and innovative ways to promote West Virginia as an Almost Heaven vacation destination. Sessions are designed to provide partners with educational and training opportunities on the latest trends and issues in the tourism industry, as well as dedicated time to network and collaborate on ways to work together to showcase West Virginia on a local, regional and national scale.
A special group rate of $96.00/night is available which will also extend to two days prior to and two days after the conference for those wishing to make a weekend trip to Huntington and the metro valley before or after the conference.
Registration for the 2021 Governor’s Conference on Tourism is open. The cost is $250 for industry partners and $50 for students.
